The A-Team: Ultimate Bootstrap Entrepreneurs!

Remember the T.V. series in the 80s called the A-Team? I was a huge fan of it, and to be honest I still am. Those of you who are familiar will know how Hannibal, B.A., Face and Murdock could amazingly get out of any situation with very little resources. They would use ingenuity, creativity and skill to always escape from whatever bind they found themselves in and go on to win the day.

There are many similarities between the A-Team and a new start-up.

Being a start-up in the current economic climate is like being the A-Team trapped somewhere. Like the A-Team you need a plan to get out. You must use what’s around you to build the tools needed to complete the plan. You need to be aware of your environment. You need to be able to think on your feet and adapt rapidly to changes. You need to be lean and flexible but always have your end goal in mind. It also helps if you and your start-up team are always “on the jazz”.

When you are faced with difficult decisions you should ask yourself – “What would Hannibal do?”. When your start-up is making sales and generating profit you can sit back, light up a cigar and say with glee “I love it when a plan comes together”.
